Department of Neurosurgery at University Hospital Halle (Saale) provides surgical care for patients with neurological and neuromuscular diseases. The department is certified by the Neuro-Oncology Center and it’s also recognized as Spine Center Level II and a Center for Skull Base Surgery. The department is in cooperation with the departments of Orthopedics and Otolaryngology to provide optimal care for patients.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Christian Strasuss, the department treats about 650 inpatients every year. The department has a special feature which is the Halle Light which is a method of monitoring the motor nerve activity during surgical procedures such as acoustic neuroma surgery.
