Department of Hematology and Oncology
Department of Hematology and Oncology at University Hospital Halle (Saale) provides care for patients with blood diseases, coagulation disorder and tumors. The department is recognized by FOCUS Magazine as one of the top medical facilities of therapy for intestinal cancer in Germany. The department offers innovative and effective diagnostic and therapeutic measures for early detection and treatment of cancer. Clinical trials are also conducted to develop better technological equipment as well as targeted therapy methods.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Mascha Binder the department treats more than 1,000 inpatients every year. For the field of hematology, the department is concerned with blood and hematopoietic diseases. The department also consists of a specialized Bone Marrow Transplant Center where more than 150 transplantations are done every year. Research projects on myeloproliferative diseases, leukemia and different types of cancer are the main focuses of the research unit of the department.
