Department of Dermatology and Venereology at University Hospital Halle (Saale) provides care for patients with skin diseases, allergic reactions as well as sexually transmitted diseases. The department offers services for inflammatory skin conditions, allergies, degenerative and neoplastic diseases of the skin. The department has special laboratories for the diagnosis of allergies, especially in children. The latest diagnostics along with both conservative and surgical therapeutics are provided by the doctors to ensure the best treatment for patients.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Cord Sunderkötter, the department treats more than 1,600 inpatients every year, nearly 300 of which are skin cancer patients. The research unit of the department is a part of the Center for Clinical Studies Dermatology and the Coordination Center for Clinical Trials Halle. Ongoing studies include allergic contact dermatitis, reverse acne, and lymphatic diseases.
