Department of Otolaryngology

Department of Otolaryngology at University Hospital Essen provides care for patients with ear, nose and throat diseases as well as head and neck tumors. The department is one of the best centers in Germany of its kind. It is certified by the German Cancer Society for its head and neck tumor contributions. The department has the Cochlear Implant Center where more than 1,000 inpatients have been treated for cochlear disorders with implants. 
The department consists of 76 beds where more than 3,000 inpatients are treated every year. Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. med. Stephan Lang, about 4,000 interventions are performed annually. A special focus of the department is phoniatrics and pedaudiology for children. Hearing screening for newborns, language development checking and perception disorders are diagnosed and treated in the department with the optimum care.

Department of Otolaryngology at University Hospital Essen is specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of:
