Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at University Hospital Essen consists of two branches, gynecology, and obstetrics. The gynecology clinic takes care of women in their reproductive period. The West German Tumor Center consists of a Gynecological Cancer Center that has an impressive record in the research field for the diagnosis and treatment of tumors of the reproductive system and breast. The obstetric clinic takes care of women during pregnancy and delivery as well as newborns. All diseases of fetal medicine are treated with optimum care by specialized and qualified doctors and medical staff. An experienced team works towards detecting and treating any malformation or abnormalities in fetus development during pregnancy.
The department is under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Rainer Kimmig has an outstanding history in the field as he has performed more than 10,000 surgeries over the last 20 years. The department treats nearly 5,000 inpatients and conducts over 1,000 deliveries every year. Offering the full range of conservative and surgical treatments as well as restoring the aesthetic appearance of the breast and psychological support are the main reasons more than 2,000 women choose this department for treatment and management. 

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at University Hospital Essen is specialized in newborn delivery as well as the diagnosis and treatment of:
