Department of Neurology at University Hospital Essen provides care for all patients with neurological diseases. Being a university hospital, the department makes use of this advantage and apply their research findings on diagnostics and therapeutics to the patients.
The department consists of 73 beds where more than 3,000 inpatients are treated every year. With Prof. Dr. med. Christoph Kleinschnitz, the head of the department, and the qualified and highly experienced doctors and medical staff members, the patient is surely in good hands. The department has state-of-the-art equipment for proper fast diagnosis and treatment, especially for stroke, Parkison’s disease and brain tumors. This equipment is regularly monitored and updated by their research establishment. The department has the West German Headache Center where any form of headaches is treated. Special centers for dizziness and backache have been also established to provide care for patients with balance disorders and conditions causing chronic backache.
The department directs a special focus for benign and malignant tumors of the nervous system. Brain, meningeal and spinal cord tumors are diagnosed and treated with the help of qualified experienced doctors of the West German Cancer Center Essen by using the cutting-edge equipment.
