Department of Urology
Department of Urology at University Hospital Erlangen provides conservative and surgical care for patients with diseases of the urinary and male genital systems. FOCUS Magazine has considered the department to be one of the best facilities for the treatment of prostatic cancer. The department has great focus directed towards common diseases and it is also a certified center for prostate cancer, urinary incontinence, and pediatric kidney diseases. It is fully equipped with the most advanced cutting-edge diagnostics and therapeutics for the management of various urologic diseases. The department takes pride in its da Vinci surgical system which ensures better surgical results and less risk of complications.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Bernd Wullich, the department treats more than 720 inpatients every year. The department also offers kidney transplantation in case of chronic kidney failure as it is in close cooperation with the Department of Nephrology and Hypertensiology. The pediatric unit of the department has its own medical team with experts in pediatric urology which work in close cooperation with the Departments of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, Pediatric Radiology, and Nuclear Medicine.
