Department of Trauma Surgery and Orthopedics at University Hospital Erlangen provides care for patients with diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system. The department is a recognized National Trauma Center that offers its service to over 240 severe and multiple injuries patients every year and it is also among the largest Polytrauma Centers in Germany. The department follows the guidelines of DINO ISO 9001 and it is also certified with endoCert certificate by the German Society of Orthopedics and Orthopedic Surgery as well as a "top clinic" in the field of Traumatology and orthopedics by FOCUS Magazine.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Mario Perl, the department performs more than 3,000 surgical interventions and treats over 1,500 inpatients every year. The department directs great attention towards pediatric traumatology as this age group requires special medical approach and care and for this, it works in cooperation with the Department of Pediatrics for the development of the best treatment plan for each patient.
