Department of General and Visceral Surgery at University Hospital Erlangen provides surgical care for patients with diseases of the digestive tract and organs. FOCUS Magazine has recognized the department as one of the best centers for intestinal cancer treatment as it has a highly experienced team of doctors and nurses providing patients with top-notch medical care. The department is fully equipped with cutting-edge diagnostics and therapeutics for the management of various esophageal, stomach, intestinal, pancreatic, and liver diseases.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Robert Grützmann, the department treats about 3,000 inpatients every year, many of which suffer from intestinal fistula. The department offers a full range of surgical procedures such as open surgery and the da Vinci Surgical System and has a special focus directed toward minimally invasive procedures and high-precision robotic surgical interventions.
