Department of Cardiology and Angiology at University Hospital Erlangen provides care for patients with diseases of the cardiovascular system. The department certified by the DIN SIO 9001:2015 and is also recognized as a Chest Pain Unit, a Heart Failure Center, and an Interventional Cardiology School. The department is fully equipped with the latest, most advanced diagnostics and therapeutics for the management of various heart and vessel diseases such as arrhythmia, coronary artery disease, heart valve diseases, etc..
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Stephan Achenbach, the department treats over 4,000 inpatients every year. In the field of angiology, the qualified medical team of the department is concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of atherosclerosis, vascular stenosis, or occlusion. Interventional cardiology is one of the main focuses of the department as it focuses on vascular claudication, cardiomyopathy as well as acute myocardial infarction.
