Department of Cardiac Surgery at University Hospital Erlangen provides surgical care for patients with cardiovascular diseases. The department has been recognized by FOCUS Magazine as one of the best facilities in Germany for cardiosurgical procedures. The department is fully equipped with state-of-the-art surgical equipment for the treatment of the full range of cardiac diseases. The department offers terminal heart failure treatment with mechanical hemodynamic support systems and heart transplantation surgeries and it also consists of 3 advanced operating theaters equipped with heart-lung machines that allow it to perform over 1,600 surgical interventions annually under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Michael Weyand out of which 1,100 are done with the help of these machines. The department has a great team of medical surgeons and nursing staff that take care of every patient in the best way possible.
