The University Hospital Düsseldorf's Department of Nuclear medicine with its two locations in Düsseldorf and in Forschungszentrum, Jülich operates a nuclear medicine clinic with the entire spectrum of scintigraphic examinations. The department offers services ranging from thyroid and skeletal diagnostics to investigations of amino acid metabolism in brain tumors and metabolic studies in other malignant tumors. In addition, there is a specialized thyroid disease unit, in which internal medicine and nuclear medicine diagnostics and therapy are implemented. The thyroid disease unit specializes in the treatment of thyroid cancers and abnormalities in thyroid gland metabolism.
The clinic's range of diagnostic services also includes state-of-the-art nuclear medicine examination techniques such as positron emission tomography (PET) which diagnoses a wide range of medical pathologies involving glucose metabolism in oncological, cardiological and neurological-psychiatric disorders.
In addition to the wide range of diagnostic services, the Nuclear Medicine Clinic is one of the largest nuclear medicine therapy centers in Germany, with a focus on benign and malignant diseases of the thyroid.
