Department of Otolaryngology

Department of Otolaryngology at University Hospital Augsburg provides the full range of care for patients with diseases of the ear, nose, and throat as well as malignancies of the head and neck area. As a Maximum Care Center, the department offers the latest technologies for the diagnosis, conservative and operative treatment for benign and malignant head and neck tumors. The medical team works together with specialists in the Department of Radiation Therapy, Oncology, and Radiology as a part of the interdisciplinary Cancer Center Augsburg to develop a tailor-made management plan for each patient.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Johannes Zenk, the Cochlear Implant Program treats patients with the full spectrum of hearing disabilities. The Pediatric unit is focused on the early detection of congenital and acquired hearing disorders in children as well as the treatment of common diseases such as adenoid. The Salivary Gland Center covers the treatment of stones and benign and malignant tumors of the parotid gland, submandibular glands, and sublingual salivary glands, preferably by microsurgical techniques while monitoring the surrounding nerves and vessels.
