Department of Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology at University Hospital Augsburg is one of the best facilities in all Germany, regarding multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease. The medical staff offers the full spectrum of management for over 4,000 patients with neurological and neuromuscular disorders every year. The Stroke Center, made of the Department of Neurology, Clinic for Vascular Surgery, and the Clinic for Diagnostic Radiology and Neuroradiology, has also been recognized by the German Stroke Society for the success of its consultation and treatment of patients with diseases of the brain-supplying vessels.
Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Markus Naumann, the department has achieved excellent results in the management of multiple sclerosis that it gained the certification of the German Multiple Sclerosis Society (DMSG) as a multiple sclerosis center and an MS acute care clinic. The department is one of the three Bavarian regional centers of the Parkinson Competence Network and also focuses on fields like epileptology, clinical neurophysiology, neuromuscular diseases, intensive neurological medicine, speech therapy, speech, and swallowing therapy, and the ultrasound laboratory.
