Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at University Hospital Augsburg offers the full spectrum of care for diseases of the female reproductive organs, delivery, and newborns. The gynecology unit provides all therapeutic measures like surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy for the full range of uterus, cervix, breast, ovaries, and vaginal diseases, including keyhole surgery for the removal of pelvic organs, for example, hysterectomy. The department follows the latest standards of safety and comprehensive care thanks to the highly specialized and qualified medical staff as well as state-of-the-art technologies for the diagnosis and treatment of over 7,000 inpatients every year.
Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. med. Christian Dannecker, the Gynecological Cancer Center, and the Breast Cancer Center have both been recertified by the German Cancer Society as about 300 malignant tumors patients are treated there annually. The Perinatal Center Level I provides the highest level of care for newborns with congenital malformations and manages high-risk pregnancies. Both the gynecology clinic and the Perinatal Center work together to looks after pregnancies, risk births, and premature babies.
