Department of General, Visceral and Transplant Surgery at University Hospital Augsburg provides surgical care for patients with diseases of the digestive tract, liver, biliary system, pancreas, endocrine glands, and abdominal wall, including obesity surgery, reflux surgery as well as pelvic floor procedures. The department has achieved excellent results in the field of treatment of pancreatic and digestive diseases that it has been recognized by the German Society of General and Visceral Surgery as a Competence Center for Surgical Coloproctology and is also a certified Reference Center for Surgical Diseases of the Pancreas.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Matthias Anthuber, the medical staff treats and offers consultations for over 3,700 inpatients every year, many of which require minimally invasive procedures. The clinic is a part of the Colon Cancer Center, Transplant Center, Center for Morbid Obesity, and the Pelvic Floor Center and is also equipped with the latest, state-of-the-art equipment to ensure patients the best treatment options.
