Department of Dermatology and Allergology at University Hospital Augsburg provides maximum care for patients with the full spectrum of skin conditions and allergies, especially skin cancer. The main focus of the department is the surgical treatment of skin tumors, histological changes in skin conditions, and allergic reactions. Following the standards of the DIN EN ISO 9001:2008, the medical team works in close cooperation with other hospital clinics and other facilities of the same specialty to ensure optimal care for patients. The department has achieved excellent results in the field of laser therapy, cryotherapy, plastic surgical techniques, and micrographically controlled surgery (MKC) which is an advanced surgical technique that prevents recurrence in tumor surgery.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. med. Julia Welzel, the Skin Tumor Cancer has been certified by the German Cancer Society and works closely with Interdisciplinary Cancer Center Augsburg (ICCA) for the treatment of over 1,000 patients every year. The Allergy Center works in cooperation with the Departments of Otorhinolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery, Children and Adolescents, Internal Medicine, Hygiene & Environmental Medicine, the Outpatient Clinic for Environmental Medicine as well as the Institute for Laboratory Medicine to provide the best care possible of allergic diseases.
