The surgeons also perform over 3,100 surgical interventions annually for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. The research unit works on the further development of optical aids, such as microscopes and endoscopes. The department, in cooperation with Spiggle & Theis, has developed titanium prostheses for hearing improvement which helps with the replacement of the diseased ossicles.
