Sana Hospital Duisburg

Head of the Department
Dr. med. Andreas Kaiser
Department of Radiation Therapy and Radiation Oncology
The Department of Radiation Therapy and Radiation Oncology has modern medical technology systems at its disposal. The focus is on linear accelerators that enable precisely metered irradiation with high-energy X-ray braking radiation and electrons. The optimal procedure in the treatment of tumors in combination with surgery and drug therapy is determined individually for each patient in consultation with the treating physicians.
The Head of the Department is Dr. Andreas Kaiser, a specialist in radiotherapy.
Special medical treatment procedures with these devices are:
- Modern linear accelerators for generating high-energy X-ray braking radiation (photons) and electrons with different photon and different electron energies
- Computer-assisted control and fluoroscopic control for exact therapy
- Multilamellar collimators for precise target volume adaptation
- Computer-assisted irradiation planning systems for calculating the optimal dose distribution
- A computed tomography scanner for treatment planning
The main medical focus is on the treatment of benign and malignant tumors and tissue changes with:
- the curative therapy of malignant tumors of all organ systems, such as the brain, ENT, esophagus, lung, breast, prostate, pelvis, rectum, etc.
- the curative prescription therapy of benign tumors, eg the pituitary gland or meninges
- the symptom-alleviating (palliative) therapy of advanced malignant diseases and their dislocations in other organs
- the anti-inflammatory and analgesic treatment of various diseases of joints and soft tissue
