Department of Urology at Ludwig-Maximilian University Hospital provides care for male patients with the urinary system and male reproductive system disorders. In cooperation with other specialized departments, the management plans are custom made for patients according to their needs.
A special focus of the department is directed towards benign prostatic hyperplasia.  Through an advanced laser method called Holmium laser enucleation of the prostate, it’s possible to remove an enlarged gland through the urethra. 2-3 procedures by this equipment are performed every day.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Christian Stief, the department treats more than 4,000 inpatients every year.
