Department of Orthopedics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Ludwig-Maximilian University Hospital provides care for patients with musculoskeletal diseases. Physiotherapeutic and rehabilitation management plans for musculoskeletal diseases are custom made for each patient. More than 600 patients receive rehabilitation with state-of-the-art equipment at the rehabilitation unit of the department every year.

Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Volkmar Jansson, the department treats more than 2,200 inpatients every year. The department due to its highly qualified doctors and medical staff that has been certified as the Maximum Care Center for Endoprosthesis by the German Society of Orthopedics and Orthopedic Surgery.
