Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ludwig-Maximilian University Hospital provides care for women in their reproductive period and for childbirth and newborns. The department offers the latest diagnostics and therapeutics for treating diseases of the reproductive system, urinary system, and hormonal disorders. The department also offers consultations for young girls in their puberty period. 
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Sven Mahner, the department treats more than 78,000 inpatients and 84,000 outpatients every year. The department has more than 2,000 beds along with qualified professional doctors and nursing staff and the advanced equipment to ensure optimal care for patients.
A specific focus of this department is at the treatment of tumors of the female reproductive organs. The department not only offers advanced conservative and surgical interventions for benign and malignant tumors but also provide complete psychological support to their patients.
The title of the Level I Perinatal Center has been awarded to this department. Care for women before, during and after delivery is the main focus of the obstetrics branch of the department. More than 2,000 babies are delivered annually in this department.
