Department of Nuclear Medicine

Department of Nuclear Medicine at Ludwig-Maximilian University Hospital is the largest medical facility for nuclear medicine in Germany. The department uses nuclear medicine diagnostics and therapeutics for early detection of tumors, neurological and cardiac diseases.
The department has a preclinical research team that consists of nuclear physicians, physicists, radiochemists, and more specialists. The team conducts researches on the new radiopharmaceuticals in diagnosis and therapy before medical application.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. med. Peter Bartenstein, the department treats more than 1,000 inpatients every year. Advanced equipment is being used by highly experienced specialized doctors and workers of the nursing staff to guarantee the best possible advanced treatment nuclear medicine can offer.
