Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Helios Hospital Munich West provides the medical care for patients with acute and chronic diseases of the ear, nose, and throat. The department is one of the largest clinics for Ear, Nose, and Throat Medicine in southern Bavaria. The department offers the full range of the cutting—edge diagnostics and therapeutics as well as the latest surgical techniques for the treatment of inflammatory, neoplastic, degenerative, and traumatic diseases of the ears, nose, and throat. The main focuses of the department are the treatment of hearing loss and ear diseases, the microsurgery of the ear as well as cochlear implants, surgery of the paranasal sinuses and the skull base, tumor surgery, midface, and cranial trauma as well as functional and aesthetic surgery.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. med. Thomas Stark, the department treats over 2,400 inpatients every year, many of which are children suffering from sinusitis as well as tonsillitis and adenoids. Dr. Stark has been recognized by FOCUS Magazine as one of the leading experts in middle ear surgery and cochlear implants. He’s also a member of PRIMO MEDICO, the network for medical specialists in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. He’s also met the strict criteria required to be a part of the Leading Medicine Guide which provides information on specialized clinics as well as medical experts. The department also offers speech therapy where services such as, the diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of diseases that occur in the areas of swallowing, speech, language, voice, and breathing or listening, are offered.
