Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Helios Hospital Munich West provides the medical care required for women with diseases of reproductive organs and the breast as well as pregnant women and babies before, during and after birth. All units of the department are equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostics and therapeutics. The gynecology unit of the department consists of an ambulatory surgery center for the operation on the uterus, ovary as well as external genitalia. There are theaters for minimally invasive operations, an Interdisciplinary Pelvic Floor Center, an Interdisciplinary Breast Center, a Center for Endoscopy and Endometriosis as well as a Gynecological Cancer Center. The Breast Center is certified by the German Cancer Society as well as the German Society for Senology as every year, around 70,000 patients are diagnosed with breast cancer in Germany and this center is sought out by over 200 patients for the treatment. Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Sabine Germ, the department treats over 3,500 inpatients and 3,000 outpatients every year. The obstetrics unit of the department is concerned with providing the parents with the necessary information before birth, the full range of birth options during the delivery, and the highest level of the care for both the mother and newborn after birth. The department delivers nearly 1,000 babies annually.
