Department of Neurology at Helios Hospital Munich West provides the care for patients with congenital and acquired diseases of the nervous system, both central and peripheral. The department offers its service on both an inpatient and outpatient basis where the high-quality, state-of-the-art comprehensive diagnostics and therapeutics are provided. The main focuses of the department are the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the brain, movement disorders, epilepsy, and impaired consciousness, dementia, and cognitive disorders, and finally stroke in the specialized certified Stroke Unit. The department works in close cooperation with the Trauma Center.
Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. med. Holger Poppert, the department treats over 2,600 inpatients every year, over 550 of which are stroke patients. The department has a great medical team with many specialists in common but intense diseases such as Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, inflammation of the spine, and brain tumors.
