Department of Trauma and Hand Surgery at Helios Hospital Berlin-Buch provides surgical care for inpatients and outpatients with traumatic diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system as well as the hand. The department has gained the certification of the German Trauma Society as the Supraregional Trauma Center as it directs great attention towards highly severe injuries and polytrauma and also uses arthroscopic intervention for the management of joint injuries for better results and less complication risk.
Under the leadership of Dr. Med. Uwe-Jess Tessmann, the medical staff works in close cooperation with the Departments of Orthopedics, Tumor Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, and the Center for Age Traumatology. The facility offers all forms of rehabilitation, such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and psychological support, along with the therapeutic measures as it works in cooperation with Rehabilitation Centers. The department has a remarkable history and reputation in the field of replantation surgery and reconstructive hand surgery with priority to the preservation of hands functions. Special therapy is applied for patients with trigger fingers, carpal tunnel syndrome, and Dupuytren’s contracture.
