Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at Helios Hospital Berlin-Buch provides medical care for newborns, children, and adolescents with acute and chronic diseases. The department offers its service on both an inpatient and outpatient basis where the full range of cutting-edge diagnostics and therapeutics is offered for the treatment of cancer, rheumatic diseases, and care for premature babies and sick newborns. The department also takes into consideration the emotional negativity that sickness has on kids and adolescents so psychological support is also provided by experts. Specialists in language development are also provided for patients with conditions delaying their growth. The oncology unit is the largest and leading Center for Pediatric Oncology in Germany as it applies effective treatment of malignant blood diseases and solid tumors.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Med. Patrick Hundsdörfer, the staff works in close cooperation with the Social Pediatric Center, Perinatal Center, Sarcoma Center, as well as the Center for Congenital Malformations. The department also works closely with the Pediatric Departments of Cardiology, Neurology, Ophthalmology, and Dermatology for the treatment of rheumatic diseases, also has a great reputation in the management of respiratory diseases, such as cystic fibrosis and bronchial asthma.
