Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine

Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at the German Heart Center Munich provides the full spectrum of radiological and nuclear medicine diagnostics and therapeutics used for the management of cardiovascular diseases. The department is recognized for its history which is full of achievements ever since it was founded in 1973 as it was the first to use digital subtraction angiography. The great medical team of the department follows the most advanced techniques and guidelines before, during and after the surgical procedures.  The department is in close cooperation with the University Hospital Rechts der Isar Munich to ensure patients receive optimal care.
Under the guidance of Dr. Med. Stefan Martinoff, the department performs over 1,500 CT cardiac examinations every year. The department was the first in Europe to have a multislice computed tomography system. The department is also equipped with a dual-source CT scanner which is tailor-made for the diagnosis of cardiac diseases.

The Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at the German Heart Center Munich is specialized in:

  • 1990 Theoretical basis of the specialty (Radiation Therapy).
  • 1991 Board certification in Radiology (including the theoretical basis of the specialty in the field of sonography and computed tomography).
  • 1991 Senior Physician and Deputy Head of the Department of Radiology at the District Hospital Starnberg.
  • 12.1991 Senior Physician in the Department of Adult and Pediatric Radiology, Nuclear Medicine at the German Heart Center Munich.
  • 1992 Theoretical basis of the specialty (Nuclear Medicine), Leading Senior Physician and Permanent Board Representative of the Department of Adult and Pediatric Radiology, Nuclear Medicine at the German Heart Center Munich.
  • 1996 Construction and commissioning of the first full Digital Radiography Unit in Bavaria (as the Department Board Representative).
