Department of Paediatrics

The Department of Paediatrics i.e, Children's Hospital (KKJM) has 5 main sections and deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases in children and adolescents. The department possesses emphasis on the treatment of diseases of neonatology, neurology, neurometabolism, allergology, pulmonology, infectiology, and premature newborns. For this, the department has specialized outpatient clinics for Cystic Fibrosis, rare lung diseases, cardiology,  gastroenterology, neurology, endocrinology, diabetology, metabolic diseases, hematologic-oncological diseases, coagulation disorders, angioedema, chronic anemia, and immune system disorder. One of the main focuses of the department is on stem cell transplantation. Since 2014, the department has its own magnetic resonance imaging device for the examination of children. Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. med. T. Klingebiel all clinics collaborate with each other and treat over 3,000 inpatients every year.

  • 1992 Habilitation in Pediatrics at the University of Tuebingen.
  • Since 2000 C4 Professor and Head of the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at the University Hospital Frankfurt am Main.

  • 2006 Specialization in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, Medical Association of Hessen, Frankfurt.

Teaching Activities

  • Since 2007 Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Goethe University Frankfurt.
