The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at University hospital Frankfurt is a certified center for artificial joint replacement and implants prostheses for almost all body joints. The experienced physicians along with competent nursing and therapist team offer high-quality prostheses to the patient. Under the leadership of Prof. Dr.Andrea Meurer, the department aims to provide the best possible treatment for each patient at the highest level of quality in order to ensure high satisfaction with treatment and long-term quality of results. At arthroplasty unit about 600 hip, knee, shoulder, elbow and ankle joints are implanted annually. This also includes replacement operations of loose or infected endoprostheses. The center has special expertise in the use of joint replacement in patients with anatomical peculiarities, such as accidents or previous operations. Patients of all ages are advised and treated by an experienced and specially trained team. For diagnosis, the center has a state-of-the-art digital X-ray machine, a new magnetic resonance tomography (MRI) machine, and computed tomography (CT) machine. In addition, the clinic has a digital EOS X-ray machine, which is used for the preparation of 3D images of the skeleton in the context of diagnostics and surgical planning, including endoprosthesis, spine and conversion surgery.

- Joint replacement with an artificial one (endoprosthesis replacement)
- Replacement of loosened or infected joint prostheses
- Treatment of the musculoskeletal system injuries due to the load, e.g., as a result of sports activities (including cartilage injuries, tendon or ligament ruptures)
- Pediatric orthopedics
- Orthopedic oncology
- Rheumatic orthopedic surgery, especially on hand and foot
- Septic bone and joint surgery
- Minimally invasive ligament and tendon reconstructions and cartilage replacement with arthroscopy,
