The Department of Pediatrics with a focus on gastroenterology, nephrology, and metabolic medicine is the Charite Center (CC17) for women, children and adolescent medicine with the perinatal center and human genetics assigned and is a part of the Otto Heubner Center for Pediatrics and Youth of the Charite University Hospital Berlin.

The department headed by Prof. Dr. med. Philip Bufler offers comprehensive diagnostics and treatment options in the areas of child gastroenterology, pediatric pedology, metabolic medicine and nutrition, and transplantation medicine. This includes both outpatient and inpatient offers.

It closely cooperates with the other children's hospitals and other departments of the Charite, including :

For children and adolescents, the Department of Pediatrics with a focus on gastroenterology, nephrology and metabolic medicine provides all, starting from conservative drug therapies to transplantation of kidney and liver.

In addition to clinical care, the staff of the Children's Hospital is involved in basic research, in the context of clinical studies and student teaching. This is an active contribution to the expansion of medical knowledge and the promotion of education and training.
