The Department of Internal Medicine, Hepatology and Gastroenterology at Charite university hospital focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the liver, biliary tract, pancreas, and the gastrointestinal tract.
The team headed by clinic director Prof. Dr. med. Bertram Wiedenmann is your competent partner for all aspects of gastroenterology and hepatology. The department has close cooperation with other specialist disciplines such as surgery, radiology, and nuclear medicine in order to be able to offer the patient diagnostics and customized therapy procedures.
The department focuses on treatment of the following conditions:
- diseases of the liver and biliary tract;
- diseases of the pancreas;
- neuroendocrine tumors;
- chronic inflammatory bowel disease;
- nutritional diseases including short bowel syndrome;
- metabolic diseases.
As a university institution, the Medical Clinic is specializing not only in hepatology and gastroenterology, but also works on the continuous improvement of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in numerous research projects. This includes close networking with international and national research centers.
